These findings represent a part of the late medieval custom of applying characteristic architectonic details from an older structure while building a new church in order to elevate its reputation. The observed architectonic elements stood as a precondition and advocate of the idea of the church restoration. The architect Čedomir Vasić used the newly discovered structure as a reliable artistic and historical source for the design of the temple dedicated to St. George, the restoration of which was completed in 1996.
